Dear Judy, Lisa, Larry, Joe, Pete, and Ernie, Sue and I are so sorry to hear about your loss. Your husband/father took great pride running the restaurant and raising all you kids. It has been many years since we all met, but I will never forget all the childhood memories playing in the Schmid household. Again, sorry for your loss. - Dennis and Sue Perfetto

Dear Judy and family. Don and I are so sorry to hear about your husband Ernie. My cousin Helen Johns sent me his obituary. Helen, Carol Nancy Jescavage and Charles Johns are my cousins. They said they went to your husband's restaurant on a steady basis. We have been living in Jupiter, Florida since. 1979. We have not been up to Mountaintop since 2001. My brother David Williams has a home there. And my niece Pamela Scarano. We keep in touch with Ed O'Neill and Gordon Schaefer. Please say hello to your family for us. God bless you all. xo.

We have known Pete Schmid (Ernest's son) for many years. Pete's wit and smile are his father's gifts to him. For a couple decades, we have heard stories of hard work, dedication and family, revolving around the diner. Mr. Schmid's legacy lives in Pete, along with other family members. We pray for the Schmid family, as we celebrate the life of a patriotic American, who built dreams through hard work and an amazing family. We look forward to Pete telling us how his father lived, and things that mattered most. Love and Condolences, Stuart and Dearest Chandler
