Yvonne “Bonnie” Kuebler, 75, of Plains, PA passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, and she now joins her late husband, Edward.

Born October 23, 1946 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy (Ward) Colgary. Raised in East Orange NJ, Bonnie graduated in 1968 from Montclair State with a Bachelors in Mathematics.

She served as a legal Secretary for the Superior Court of Pennsylvania for 21 years. However, her true calling was teaching, and she taught Mathematics to junior high students in multiple states and shared fond memories of the time she spent teaching at the Red Cloud Indian School at the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. Faith as strong as her wit was sharp, she continued teaching throughout her life sharing this faith which inspired a calling in others. Additionally, she shared her love for the culinary arts initiating “Cooking camp with Grandma” each summer with her granddaughters. Bonnie connected well with so many people throughout her life because of her innate desire to continue to learn and grow with her children and grandchildren, and therefore acquired a vast knowledge of many subjects ranging from public policy to Pokémon. She also continued to grow in her faith as well being a part of the body of Christ at Central United Methodist Church for over 40 years and participating in community outreach and Bible study that deepened as her love of God was cultivated.

She leaves behind daughter Heather Klees (Bill), Ephrata, PA and grandchildren Avery, Natalie, Emma, and Alan; daughter Susanna Kuebler (Oscar Galindo), Arlington, VA; and daughter Caryn Kuebler, Hyattsville, MD; siblings Jo Madera, Sandy (Estelle) Colgary, Tim (Nina) Colgary and sister-in-law Deby Stefanacci, wife of the late Paul Colgary and Frank Stefanacci, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and their children. Bonnie also leaves behind many dear friends including Danny and Betty Ball, James Calderone, Dorothy Casterline, Don and Joan Devans, Charlie and Ann Fick, Diane and Dave Germack, Karen Habersky, Joe and Mary Krenetsky, Torre and Donna Lippi, Joan Michael, and friends/neighbors Nancy and Bruce Stricker who made her living independently possible. She was so well loved.

Celebration of her Life to be held Friday March 4, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Central UMC, 65 Academy Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, (light refreshments will be served at 12:00 pm prior to the service) with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains, PA. Family and friends may call Thursday, March 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

To honor Bonnie’s passions and faith, the family asks in lieu of flowers, gifts be sent to Red Cloud Indian School at Pine Ridge, redcloudschool.org; Central UMC Church at the address listed above; or donate to your local blood bank.
