Valerie Filippini, 89 of Kingston, passed away Friday evening, November 24, 2017 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Throop, she was the daughter of the late Enrico & Emma (Castellani) Brunetti.

Val was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1946, and was employed as a seamstress in the area garment industry until her retirement. She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and the I.L.G.W.U.

She was preceded in death by her husband Omero “Homer” Filippini on November 25, 1990, and her brother Bruno Brunetti.

Surviving are her daughters Judy Schmidt and her husband Paul, Hudson, and Patricia Koveleski and her husband Joseph, Mechanicsburg, sons Alfred Filippini and his wife Mary, and Joseph Filippini and his wife Donna, all of Plains, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister Theresa Tempalski, Hudson, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 9:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
