Obituaries » Thomas M. Prebola May 27, 1937 - March 14, 2018 Thomas Michael Prebola, Sr., 80, formerly of Plains, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2018, at River Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, with his family by his side. He was born May 27, 1937, in Plains, son of the late Michael and Caroline Prebola. He was a 1954 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Plains and King’s College, Wilkes-Barre. A veteran of The U.S. Army, he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In his younger days Thomas had a passion for pigeon racing and shows. He later turned that passion to breeding and raising canaries, developing a reputation for breeding some of the most beautiful and soulful songbirds in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his sister Delores Homza, and grandchildren Kevin Miller and Lea Sassi. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Prebola, son, Thomas Jr. and his wife, Lynn, Mountain Top; daughter Caroline Miller and her husband Stephen, Dallas; daughter Kristin Sassi and her husband Jonathan, Shavertown; grandchildren Joshua and Juliette Prebola, Stephen and Christopher Miller, and Jonathan, Tyler, and Katelyn Sassi; sister, Carolyn Pitcavage, Edwardsville; many nieces and nephews. Thomas’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at River Run, where he resided for the last several years. Their caring and compassion for Thomas will not be forgotten. Funeral will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 8:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp., PA. Family and friends may call Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
