Egan, 93 of Bear Creek, passed away Friday morning, May 27, 2016 at River Street Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre. Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William and Genevieve (Kennedy) Mattick. Theresa was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1940 and was employed as a secretary by Kay Wholesale Drug Co. of Plains Twp., the Veteran’s Administration, Wilkes-Barre, and St. Christopher’s Church, Bear Creek. A devoted catholic, Theresa was a former member of Child Jesus Church, Pittston, and currently a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Theresa volunteered her time at the Pro Life Office, Wilkes-Barre, The F.M. Kirby Center as an usher, Bear Creek Township as a secretary, and the American Red Cross. She also hosted the Irish Teachers at her home. Theresa also enjoyed her trips to Florida, Hawaii, Italy and Ireland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Thomas R. Egan on May 18, 1989, her sisters Marie Corcoran, Gertrude Sheridan, Genevieve McGilloway, Dolores Dohman, and Regina Gavin. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, including her caretakers Marie Spagnuolo and Kathleen Gavin. Theresa’s family would like to express our gratitude to the exceptional nurses, aides, and staff at River Street Manor for their compassionate and loving care. We can’t thank you enough. Funeral will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road Plains, PA, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends and family may call Wednesday morning from 8:00 am till 9:00 am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to SS.
