Makuch, Sr., 90 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015 at Riverstreet Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Plains Twp., he was the son of the late Paul & Stephania (Pryga) Makuch. Stanley was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1943 and was employed as Chief Mechanic by B.F. Goodrich Co., for 42 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, currently St. Andre Bessette Parish, North Wilkes-Barre. Stanley enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing. He was a manager of the Miners Mills Indians Little League, and coached Teener League Baseball. He was a player/manager for various teams in slow pitch softball leagues, and for the past 15 years was the president of the Miners Mills “CCWN” Horseshoe League. Stanley was a wonderful father and grandfather. His great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He would light up with happiness when they would arrive for a visit and would always look forward to their return visit. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Mildred M. Kaminski on February 19, 2008, sisters Eleanor Gido, Anna Koval, Genevieve Kopec, and Rose Shubert, brothers Paul, John, Peter, Leonard, and Bernard “Benji” Makuch. Surviving are his son Stanley Makuch, Jr. and his wife Cathy, Wilkes-Barre, granddaughters Sherry Kruchinsky and Cindy Wielgosz, great-grandchildren Kayla and Mark Kruchinsky, and Ryan Wielgosz, sister Dolores Ungvarsky and her husband Dan, Lansdale, several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish 668 N. Main Street Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
