Obituaries » Ronald J. Stella September 20, 1943 - May 5, 2024 Ronald J. Stella, 80 of Plains Twp., passed away Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, Plains, PA. Born on September 20, 1943 in the Irishtown section of Plains Township, he was the son of the late John and Ida (Pascucci) Stella. Ron attended Middlesex High School, Middlesex, New Jersey, he was employed as a mechanic at Havens Ford Company, Bound Brook, NJ. He was then a Combat Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division from 1967 to 1969. During his service he received the Army Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart. Upon his honorable discharge from active service, Ron was employed as a mechanic at Colaluca Trucking Company, Middlesex, NJ and Stell Enterprises, Franchelli Enterprises, both Plains, PA. He was a member of the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558, the United Mine Workers Union. Ron was also a classic car enthusiast and was once a member of Rockin Cruisers, Wyoming Valley, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ida Stella. Surviving is his beloved sister Eileen Armas, Bedminster, New Jersey, nieces Coreen Lucas, and Tara Armas, nephew Jeffrey S. Armas, Esq., and his wife Ana, 4 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, and beloved cousins. Family and friends may call Friday morning, May 10, 2023, from 9:00 am until a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial, followed with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and the Plains American Legion, Post 558, at St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702, with Father Alex Roche, Pastor, officiating. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the Church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
