Ronald J. Kopec

Ronald J. Kopec, 77 of Plains Township, passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2024.

Born in Plains Township on February 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph V. and Mary L. (Spinosi) Kopec.

Ron was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1964, and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Sergeant, serving in Germany.  Upon his honorable discharge from active service in 1970, Ron was employed as an electrician at Pennsylvania Power & Light “PPL” for over 35 years, retiring in 2009.

Ron was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO #1520, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play poker.

Surviving are his son Chris Kopec and Tim Blake, Orlando, FL, daughter Kimberly Kopec, Mountain Top, grandchildren Zac Kopec, Orlando, FL, and Kara and Mia Collins, Mountain Top, sister Rosalie Bonsall and her husband John, Durham, NC, former wife Beatrice Romanoski and her husband Joseph, Bear Creek, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ron will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705, with Rev. Hadley R. Hayes, officiating.  Interment with Military Honors accorded by the United States Air Force and the Plains American Legion Funeral Honors Detail, will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming.  Family and friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children´s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Ron’s name.
