Robert Washko, Jr.

January 14, 2024

Robert “Bobby” Washko, Jr., 60 of Duryea, passed away unexpectedly due to suicide on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Born January 18, 1963, in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Robert and Cindy (Marconi) Washko. He graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1980.

Bobby leaves behind a family, his wife Lisa with whom they recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, his son, Jordan and fiancé Jen Dobrowski, and daughter Paige and boyfriend Isaiah Brissette-Hatch.

Bobby retired from the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N, as a civilian employee, a job that he was proud to work alongside the men and women of that barracks and others. He was formerly employed by Keystone Automotive for 22 years.  Bobby also traveled internationally as part of the Joe Amato Top Fuel Drag Race Mechanic Crew.

Bobby was a proud dad to his children, which was witnessed by the countless practices, rehearsals, belt testing performances and trainings he helped them prepare for and accomplish.  He was an avid collector of World War II memorabilia, especially coins and stamps which he shared with many of his family and friends and used that collection to help his family accomplish their goals. He also was an avid fisherman taking great pride in this talent for creating such intricate detailed flies for companies such as Orvis Anglers. Possibly best known for his love of restoring his Butternut Yellow 1969 Rally Sport Camaro Z28 which took a prideful spot in his garage instead of his own family’s vehicles.

In addition to his immediate family listed above Bobby is survived by his siblings Suzanne Washko-Cooper and Husband Kevin of Aston, PA, and James “Jimmy” Washko and his wife Jennifer of Swoyersville, Sisters-in-Law Mary Rose Karaffa and Husband Ron, and Donna Renauro. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all those who have expressed love and concern at this difficult time and appreciate the support moving forward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea, PA  18642, celebrated by his Pastor, Rev. Michael Bryant. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church Thursday morning. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Duryea. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17 from 5pm to 7pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.
