Dick Johnson, 69, of Plains Township, passed away Friday morning, June 5, 2015 with his family by his side.

Born in Plains, he was the son of the late Edwin and Hazel (Thompson) Johnson and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1963.

Dick was employed at Mideast Aluminum for 32 years as a Maintenance Supervisor and last at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, for 7 years until his retirement.

Dick was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church, a member of the Shriner’s, Keystone Consistory of Scranton, Valley Lodge #499 of West Pittston, The Perugia Beneficial Society of Keystone, and the Polish American Veterans of Plains.

Dick was an honorable man who valued spending quality time with family and friends. Dick was a loving and devoted Husband and Father. He enjoyed camping at HOW KOLA Camp Grounds, fishing in Canada, many trips to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, and most recently cruising the seas with friends.

Preceding him in death were his Brothers Donald and Edwin (Ted) Johnson and Sisters, Marjorie Hockenbury and Shirley Enright.

Surviving are his Wife of 47 years the former Marilyn Binker, Son Neal Johnson and Julie Fumanti, Plains, Daughter Amanda Johnson and her Fiancée Andrew Sanguiliano, Syracuse, New York, Sisters Judy Vanderburg and her husband Gary, Plains and Peggy Fedor and her husband Leo, Plains, several Nephews, Nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

Funeral services for Dick will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains with Rev. Dr. Paul Amara, Pastor of The Plains United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming. Family and friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the Celtic Hospice Staff for all their kindness.
