Kerr, 65 of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, PA, died Monday morning, September 4, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, PA with his family surrounding him after a brief illness. Born in Morristown, New Jersey on December 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Doris (McKinney) Kerr. Ricky, also known as Rick and Rich, moved to Wilkes-Barre Twp. during high school and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1976, and remained in PA for the remainder of his life. Ricky was employed at the American Silk Mill, Hudson for many years, until its closure and last at MTL, Jessup, until his retirement. An avid New York Yankees, New York Jets, and Notre Dame Football Fan, Rick loved to talk sports. Ricky also loved to work in his yard gardening, and was an avid golfer and softball player for years. He was sarcastic and a little gruff, but above all else he loved his family and would do anything for them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis Legora, Patricia Gibbs, Sandra Kraser, and Michael Legora. He is survived by his partner, Barbara Rose, Wilkes-Barre; the mother of his children, Kathleen Klauss-Kerr, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; daughters Nikki Stapleton and her husband Mark, South Bend IN, and Allie Kerr, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; son Eric Kerr, Buffalo NY; and Barb’s children Mary Hirt and her husband Jonathan, West Pittston, and their daughter Harmony; and Frank Schwartz, White Haven, brother Bob Kerr and his wife Cheri, Calabash, NC, twin sister Ellen Kinder and her husband Doug, Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and his 2 dogs, Pita and Aja, and his 2 cats Gillie and Kunta. Funeral services for Ricky will be held Friday evening, September 8, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating. Family and friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. As Ricky loved all animals and rescued many stray kittens throughout the years, ensuring they all found loving homes, memorial donations may be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612.Richard A.
