Patricia A. Walsh

March 9, 2024

Patricia A. Walsh, 84 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday morning, March 9, 2024 at Birchwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Nanticoke, PA.

Born on October 9, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mable (Shafer) Lynn.

Pat was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1957, and worked mostly in the garment industry until the 1970’s, sold Avon with her sister Carol, worked for Orloski and Price Chopper as cashier, and finished her eclectic career as a home health care provider.

Pat lived in New Jersey until the end of the 1960’s, moving back home and provided substantial care for her father and later, her mother until their passing.

Pat traveled with her family to Tombstone, Arizona, Yellowstone National Park, across the continental divide, the Badlands of South Dakota, Wall Drug, Deadwood, Kansas, Mt. Rushmore, New York City, and up to Niagara Falls in her new 1966 Chrysler Newport. She celebrated the July 4th, 1976 Bicentennial at Liberty Park with the Statue of Liberty and fireworks over the Manhattan skyline.

Like many Irish, she was loving in her own way, and ready to set you straight if you crossed her line. If you took the time to share an afternoon with her, you would come away with a refreshed appreciation for common sense.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, William, Eugene “Jack” and Harold “Hal” Lynn, her sisters Alice Blackwedel and Carol Meyers, her former husband Joseph M. Walsh, and nephew Jim Lynn.

Surviving are her son Joseph Walsh and his wife Suzanne (Bienvenue) Walsh, Wilkes-Barre, grandsons Bryan and Shaun Walsh, NJ, nieces and nephews: Annie, Harry, and Lynn Blackwedel, CT, Robert, Michael, and Ann Lynn, NJ, Robert Jr, Thomas, Laura, Kathleen, Diane, and Mary Lynn, PA, Michelle Daubert, Leslie Raimondi and Jim Meyers, PA, and Chris Keough, VA.

Funeral Services for Pat will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating.  Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.  Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer´s Association: Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
