Obituaries » Michael J. Spudis July 26, 1945 - August 25, 2023 Michael J. Spudis, 78, of Center Moreland, PA, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, August 25, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Luzerne on July 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Michael G. and Helen J. (Muscavage) Spudis. Mike was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, Class of 1963. Always wanting to stay busy and work, Mike joined the workforce straight of high school by working at National Cash Register (NCR). He had been aspiring to join the workforce in the technological field and was excited to get the chance. But alas, the Vietnam War put his dreams on pause. He was drafted by the United States Army in October of 1965, serving until his honorable discharge two years later in October of 1967. Upon his return to civilian life, he resumed his job at NCR in various technologies until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement he was given the opportunity to utilize the skills he learned from NCR to start his own business. Mike enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and loved to cook. He was very talented at wood working and a variety of mechanical and electrical repairs. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Carverton section of Wyoming and the Dallas American Legion, Post 672. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Robert G. Spudis. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Patricia Geskey, Center Moreland, daughters Tammy Yencha and her husband Jeffrey, Laflin, and Jennifer Kochan, Center Moreland, grandchildren Bryce, Samantha and Nicole Yencha, and Olivia and John-Michael Kochan, nieces and nephews. Mike’s family would like to thank Medical Oncology Associates, especially Dr. Bruce Saidman and his staff, Allied Hospice, Residential Home Healthcare, and CIP Rehabilitation for the wonderful care given to Mike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 585 Mt Olivet Road, Wyoming, PA 18644, with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of mass at church. Those attending the visitation and/or funeral mass, please go directly to church Wednesday morning. Inurnment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705. Memorial donations may be made to the family for a future annual scholarship fund established in Michael’s name.Michael J. Spudis
