Melissa Bentler

Melissa Holmes Bentler, 53 of Scranton, passed away Friday afternoon, August 4, 2023 at Regional Hospital of Scranton, with her family by her side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on May 30, 1970, she was the daughter of Joseph and Joan (Fallon) Holmes of Mountain Top, PA.

Melissa was a graduate of Crestwood High School, Class of 1988.  She was formerly employed at John Heinz Rehabilitation Hospital, J.C. Penney Department Store and presently at the United Parcel Service. Melissa was very involved with the 4-H club and attended Camp Shehaqua  from the time she was an eight year old camper until she later was an adult leader.

Melissa was a devoted mother and is survived by her children Erik and Emily Bentler, Scranton, her parents Joseph and Joan, sisters Mary Angela Robbins and her husband Mike, West Wyoming, Jennifer Holmes and her fiancée Joe Wiernusz, Sheatown, brothers Jeffrey Holmes, Malta, Ohio, and Matthew Holmes Lansdowne, PA.  Melissa is also survived by her fiancée David Sims, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Jude Parish, 420 South Mountain Boulevard, Mountain Top, PA  18707.  Those attending the funeral mass, please go directly to church Wednesday morning.  Interment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, Hanover Township, PA.  Family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
