Marion (Gildea) Novak, 88, of Plains Township, passed away Tuesday evening, January 6, 2015 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, just hours shy of her 89th birthday.

Born in Plains on January 7, 1926, Marion was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Farrell) Gildea.

Marion was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and was employed by First Easter Bank of Plains, later PNC Bank as a teller until her retirement. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church Plains, and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, and the Altar and Rosary Society until its merger.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Andrew “Scottie” Novak on December 7, 1991 and her sister Catherine “Kay” Gildea on April 3, 1987.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9:30 am at SS. Peter & Paul Church 13 Hudson Road Plains, PA 18705, with Father John Boyle, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp., PA. There will be no calling hours.
