Marie (Chiucchi) Ulicny

April 15, 2024

Marie Ulicny, 86 of the Keystone section of Plains Twp., passed away April 15, 2024 peacefully at home.  She was the loving wife of Stephen E. Ulicny, who preceded her in death in 2008.

Born on April 7, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Maria (Gaggiotti) Chiucchi.

Marie was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School in 1956.  She was employed by Owens Illinois in the Kimball division until her retirement.  She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Laflin.

According to Marie, family was paramount.  She selflessly cared for her father, mother, and later her husband, Stephen, until their passing.  She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends, her kindness and smile.

Marie devoted herself to three daughters, and five grandchildren.  She was a woman of many talents.  Her Italian culinary skills amazed everyone including her High School home economics teacher.  She loved to dance, and even taught her friends how to dance.   Most notably, she heroically saved a child from drowning.   She comforted her loved ones in time of need, and everyone felt safe in her arms.   Throughout her life, she emphasized the importance of being prudent with finances and working diligently.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen, brothers Ernest and Charles Chiucchi, sisters Josephine Paciotti, Santina Chiucchi, Jennie Segretto, and Regina Blandina, and sister-in-law Doris Chiucchi.

Surviving are her daughters Jacqueline Brunn, Denise Long and her husband John, and Maria Ulicny, grandchildren Kristen Brunn and her fiancé James Roccograndi, Kelsey Brunn, Kaitlin Long, Michael Long, Gregory Long and his partner Colleen Tygh.  She had a beautiful relationship with her niece Michele Blandina Earlley, along with many nieces and nephews.

Her family will be eternally grateful for her caregiver Natalia Domashinski.  Natalia exemplified the ideal caregiver and became part of Marie’s family.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saints Peter and Paul Food Bank, C/O 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA  18705.
