Margaret “Peggy” O’Brien, of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday afternoon, June 30, 2014, at Little Flower Manor/St. Therese Residence, Wilkes-Barre.

Born and raised in Ashley, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Katie (Grady) Hogan.  She was a 1938 graduate of St. Leo’s High School, and worked in the lab of Mercy Hospital before her marriage to Michael O’Brien.

Peggy was a member of Holy Saviour Church and its Altar and Rosary Society until it’s merger as St. Andre Bessette Parish.  Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who not only raised her own children, but also shaped the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael J. O’Brien on July 19, 1990, sisters Catherine and Alice Hogan, Mary O’Day, and her brother Tom Mangan.

Surviving are her daughters Mary Davis and her husband Glenn, Laflin, Catherine Augustine and her husband John, Mountaintop, and Peggy Baloga and her husband, Tom, Wilkes-Barre, sons Michael, Wilkes-Barre, Frank and his wife Laura, New Jersey, Pat, Colorado, Ed and his wife Sherri, Plains, Tom and his wife Jill, Wilkes-Barre, Jim and his wife Tina, New Jersey, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Solomon and the nurses and staff of Little Flower Manor for their compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, North Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends are asked to go directly to church Saturday morning.  Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp., PA.  Friends may call Thursday evening, July 3, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc.,  20 South Main Street  Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations may be made to Little Flower Manor 200 Meade Street  Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702 or to the charity of their choice.
