Leonard J. Gierszal, 81 of Kingston, passed away Friday morning, May 11, 2018 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann (Vestyck) Gierszal.

Len was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1954 and was employed as a welder for
Inter Metro, Wilkes-Barre and last as a courier for the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, a former member of the Iron Workers Union, Local 489, the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558, and the Polish Club, Hudson.

Leonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was an avid Notre Dame Football and New York Giants fan.

He was preceded in death by his sister Maryann Gierszal.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Jane McGlynn, Kingston, sons Leonard Gierszal and his wife April, Mountain Top, Kevin Gierszal, Kingston, and Jason Gierszal and his fiancée Jocelyn Wadzin, Mountain Top, grandchildren Lexy, Aidan, Drew, Katelyn, Kevin, Jr., Keira and Kamryn Gierszal, sister Bernadine Brzycki and her husband Frank, Hudson, nieces and nephews.

Leonard’s family would like to thank the staff of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital 6-South, Kindred Home Health Care, and Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderful care given to Leonard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 9:00 am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704, with Father Joseph Mosley, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
