June 27, 2023

Leona Lepore, 86 of Plains Township, passed away Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in Pittston and raised in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Paul Hatrak, Sr., and Margaret (Malenda) Hatrak.

Leona was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1955. She worked for the Consolidated Cigar Factory, West Pittston until she met her husband of 62 years, the late Armand “Ducho” Lepore. Together they worked side by side in the family business, City Poultry, which then became City Mager in Wilkes-Barre and raised three children.

Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a big fan of Neil Diamond and celebrated her 86th birthday by seeing A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical on Broadway. She enjoyed going to dinners with family and friends, going to Polka Weekend, and taking bus trips to Atlantic City. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making ravioli and meatballs for holiday dinners with her family. Everyone looked forward to her meals, which she prepared effortlessly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armand “Ducho”, brothers George and Leonard Hatrak, son-in-law Stanley Brunischeski, and grandson Joseph Osmanski.

Surviving are her daughters Michele Brunischeski, Shavertown, Lisa Tatem and husband Michael, Franklin, VA, son Armand Lepore, Jr. and wife Michele, Miners Mills, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother Paul Hatrak, Jr. and wife, Josephine, Jenkins Twp.
