Kathleen A. Buckman, 61 of the North End Section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday morning at Commonwealth Hospice at St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre, after a lengthy illness.

Born in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Agnes (Kelly) Lyons.

Kathy was a graduate of James M. Coughlin H.S., Class of 1970, and Wilkes-Barre School of Nursing.  She was employed in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital O.R. and several surgical groups around the valley as a surgical nurse.  She was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

Kathy was an avid Norte Dame Football fan, and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Michael Buckman, children Michael Buckman and Haeley, Pottstown, Melissa Buchman and Keith, Wilkes-Barre, and Keri Buckman, Wilkes-Barre Twp., grandchildren McKayla, Emma, Kamryn, Liam, and Gavin, sisters Patricia Skurkis and her husband Ronnie, Virginia, Mary Leskiw and her husband Steve, Plains, Ellen Ercolani and her husband Raymond, Forty Fort, brothers Patrick Lyons and his wife Sharon, Dallas, and Joseph Lyons and his wife Debbie, Luzerne, several nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s family would like to thank the staff of Commonwealth Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care of Kathy.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA  18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.  Friends may call Monday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
