Josephine T. Phillips, 93, of Plains Township, passed away Wednesday morning May 26, 2021, at The Gardens at East Mountain , Plains, Pa.

Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Nikanor and Frances (Brzostowski) Novichuck.

Josephine was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1945 and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and the Hanover Township AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Post 59.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Phillips on April, 15, 2001, brothers Frank Novichuk, who was killed in action during World War II, and John Novichuk, sister Mary Wnorowski, and son–in law John Franchella, Jr.

Surviving are her daughter Karen Franchella, Morresburg, TN, son Nicholas Phillips and wife Lois, Plains, Grandchildren John D. Franchella, and his wife Larissa, Plains, Lori Murphy and her husband Dr. James Murphy, Shavertown, Kelly Phillips, Middletown, CT, and Nicholas Phillips, Plains, great-grandchildren Nate and Nolan Franchella, and Emma, Cara, and James Murphy, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Thursday June 3, 2021 at 9:30 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705 with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. A live stream of the Funeral Mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK page. Interment will be in th Parish Cemetry, Plains.
