Josephine M. “Feeney” Ondrick

September 19, 2023

Josephine M. “Feeney” Ondrick, 96, entered into eternal life at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham, CT, on the evening of September 19, 2023.

She was born and was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, PA, daughter of the late John and Anna (Kandrac) Pavlik.  She was recently residing for 6 years in CT, where she became a member of The Cathedral of St. Patrick.

Josephine was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She will be remembered as a devoted Catholic, wife, mother and grandmother who belonged to the Sacred Heart /St. John’s/St. Andre Bessette Altar and Rosary Society, and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was a retail sales clerk in downtown Wilkes-Barre, and most of all showed great compassion and love as a caregiver to her brother and sister, Carl and Anna Pavlik with great dignity, respect, and generosity towards others.

She taught us the value of family, education, working, saving and being content. We will miss visiting her, her smile, and Slovak memories and songs.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, John Ondrick, brothers Leo, John, Joseph, and Carl Pavlik, and sisters, Elizabeth Palenchar, Cecilia Monka, Anna Pavlik, and Irene Zelinka.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara A. Skopek of Norwich, CT, grandson John Skopek and his wife, Mary Clare of Uncasville, grandchildren Kyle, Jacob and Madelyn in addition to nieces Dr. Maureen Zelinka, Joanne Kutney of Florida, Deborah Milewski of Southington, CT and other nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Cathedral, Norwich, CT, with Msgr. Anthony Rosaforte, Pastor, officiating.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas, PA.  Local arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

The family of Josephine wish to extend heartfelt gratitude for all the superior Nursing/Pastoral Care services given at St, Joseph’s and VITAS Hospice Care.
