Popielarski, 66, of Plains Township, passed away Thursday evening, March 31, 2016 at his home after a two year battle against ALS. Born in the Miners Mills Section of Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Zigmund and Josephine (Garwacki) Popielarski. Joe was a graduate of Mary Mount High School, Wilkes-Barre, class of 1968 and King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, class of 1972, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for over 30 years and was Manager, Integrated Business Systems Solutions Center from 1998 until his retirement in July of 2009. Joe was an avid New York Yankee’s Fan and loved going to Spring Training baseball in Florida every year. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club. Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his children, who he would make frequent visits to. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Surviving are his wife of 36 years the former Teresa Krouchick, son Max Popielarski, Las Vegas, NV, daughters Jo Anna Popielarski, Newark, DE, and Dr. Alison Popielarski and her partner Ryan Hart, Dillsburg, PA, brother Edmund Popielarski, sisters Betsy Zurek, and her husband Mark, and Maryanne Mengak and her husband Ed, all of Mountain Top, aunts Victoria Garwacki and Helen Krenzer, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor officiating. Interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, Plains. Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
