Flynn, 70 of Plains Township, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 21, 2016 after suffering a heart seizure at home. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Martin J. and Elizabeth M. (Long) Flynn. Joe was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1964, and Wilkes-Barre Business College. He was employed as a clerk at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, and later at Medico Industries until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains, where he was a Eucharist Minister and a member of the Senior Citizens’ Club at SS. Peter & Paul Church. Joe was also a Webelos Leader and Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 100, Plains and volunteered at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre, which he truly enjoyed. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Washington Redskins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald Milgate, Brother Thomas J. Flynn and his niece Sharon F. Brubaker. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Gloria J. Welebob, Plains, sons Ryan Flynn, Plains, and Joseph Flynn and his wife Sherry, Dallas, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, Brother Martin Flynn, Ocala, Florida, several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road Plains, PA 18705 with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, and Father Joseph Greskiewicz, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Plains. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to SS.
