Joseph Barron, 87 of Exeter, passed away Monday morning, March 13, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, Twp., PA.

Born in Peckville, PA, on June 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Wirchniansky) Barron.

Joe was a graduate of Dickson City High School, and attended Lackawanna County Business College. He was an Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957, attaining the rank of SP2. He was employed for many years at Tobyhanna Army Depot in the personal department, retiring in 1988. Joe was a member of The Church of God, A Worldwide Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Barron.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, the former Sandra Barron Gibson, Exeter, step-daughters Nastassia Kean, Wichita, KS, Tamara Gibson, Blakely, PA, and Cyrielle Gibson, Plymouth, grandchildren Tyler, Lily, and Mianna, sister Joan Craparo, Binghamton, NY, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Joe will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Rev. Kevin Epps, Pastor of The Church of God, A worldwide Association, officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and the Plains American Legion Funeral Honors Detail will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Township, PA. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The United Way of Lackawanna County, 615 Jefferson Avenue #304, Scranton, PA 18510.
