James P. Curtin, 85 of Pittston, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2022 at Allied Services Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Born on May 13, 1936 in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Josephine (Gantert) Curtin.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading, PA, Class of 1954, and was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1957-1961.

Jim was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for over 32 years, until his retirement in 1993. Jim loved solving crossword puzzles, hiking, going to the beach with his family and visiting with his grandsons. He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan as well as a Penn State Football fan. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and a Life Member of the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Rev. Joseph Curtin, William Curtin, and Theodore Curtin, and his sister Margaret McDevitt.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Theresa (Madden) Curtin, Pittston, daughters Kelly Harrington and her husband Eugene, Ellicott City, MD, Colleen Petroski and her husband Michael, Kingston, and Mary Saha and her husband Pranav, Baltimore, MD; twin grandsons Logan & Quinn Harrington, and his brother Lawrence Curtin and his wife Lynn, Reading, PA, sister-in-law Joanne Curtin, Westminster, MA, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 8:45 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. John The Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, Pittston. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer´s Association: Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 57 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
