Emerick April 29, 1932 - April 17, 2023 Funeral Home Corcoran Funeral Home Inc Gerald John Emerick, 90 of Bear Creek Township, passed away Monday evening, April 17, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on April 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Harold V. and Hannah (Kaplowitz) Emerick. Gerald was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, Penn State University and Essex County Community College, Newark, New Jersey. He started his working career as a draftsman for Westinghouse Electric working on many high-level projects. Wanting to move back to Northeast Pennsylvania, he accepted a position at Federal Pacific Electric in Scranton working in commercial sales. After a plant closure, he relocated to their headquarters in Newark, NJ, as a plant manager. In 1975 he began working for American Export Group, Aegis International, Washington, D.C., exporting building materials worldwide, primarily in Saudi Arabia. This had him completing many international projects, eventually relocating to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for several years. Upon his return to the United States, he took a position with Heinemann Electric in Chestertown, MD until his retirement where he lived for the next 30 years. After retiring, he pursued his pilot’s license and built an airplane. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. These activities took him on countless adventures all over the world. His favorite fishing spot was Lake Ontario, NY, where he and his friends fished for salmon. He was an active member of the Elks Club #2474, Chestertown, MD, where he enjoyed various community activities. Friday nights were spent preparing the fundraising meals while enjoying a Glenlivet. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Barbara (Ogin) Emerick, 2nd wife Karen (Kaitz) Emerick, companion Cindy Stanfield, daughter Jane (Emerick) Pawlenok, and great-grandson Scott Joseph Emerick. Surviving are his sons, David Emerick and his companion Clariza Rodriguez, Plains, Michael Emerick and his wife Leeann, Bear Creek Township and Sally Potorski and her companion Jeffrey Phillips, Wilkes-Barre, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, Pennsylvania 18705.
