Obituaries » George Krizenoskas , Jr. August 20, 1939 - January 14, 2022 George Krizenoskas, Jr., 82 of Jenkins Township, passed away Friday morning, January 14, 2022 at the inpatient unit of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late George and Helen (Sabestinas) Krizenoskas, Sr. George was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1957, and was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University in 1961. George served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964, being stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, and the U.S. Army Headquarters, Heidelberg Germany. Upon his honorable discharge from active service, George attended Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, earning his Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1970. He was employed at Western Electric, Allentown, Hamburg PA State School and Hospital, The Lebanon VA Medical Center, and last at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church, Pittston, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and sang in the church choir. George also served as Chair of the Wilkes-Barre Division of the National Association of Social Workers. George loved to study languages, including Spanish, German, Russian, Polish and Lithuanian. He traveled to many states and countries in Europe. George also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, dominoes, and card games. He was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan, and loved his family, wife, children, and grandchildren. He and his wife the former Dolores Sincavage celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on August 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Greenfield on June 10, 2011, and his sisters Dorothy Warenko, Lorraine Minnick, and Ruth O’Hara. Surviving in addition to his wife Dolores are his daughters Ann Benko and her husband Floyd, Palmyra, PA, Lisa Krizenoskas, Phoenixville, PA, and Rachel Miller and her husband Jeremy, Harding, grandsons Samuel and Jacob Greenfield, and Brayden Miller, son-in-law David Greenfield, Harding, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. John The Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640, with Father Joseph Elston, Pastor, officiating. Private inurnment will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek. Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 am at church.
