Gail N. Konecke

Gail Noreen Konecke of Mountain Top, died Friday, May 12, 2023.

She was born on October 1, 1949, in Wilkes Barre and was the daughter of the late Carl John Konecke, M.D. and Matilda (Litkowski) Konecke.

She was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1967, College Misericordia, Dallas, and Marywood University, Dunmore, PA, earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Gail Konecke’s life mission and passion was helping people both in her personal and professional life. She was a dedicated, life-long servant of her community via her profession in social work. Gail held several positions during her career including St. Stanislaus, Colombia Montour Home Health, Celtic Healthcare and most notably as the Director of Social Services at Mercy Hospital.

Gail was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Carl John Konecke M.D., her mother, Matilda Litkowski Konecke, and her brother Carl John Konecke Jr.

Surviving are her sisters Susan Harding, Mountain Top; Karen Finarelli, Dallas and her brother Keith Konecke, Forest Hill, MD; 10 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 9:15 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, St. Aloysius Church, 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702, with Father Richard J. Cirba, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.  Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
