Francis J. Goretski

Francis J. Goretski, 85, of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday August 28, 2023 at the VA Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Miners Mills on November 12, 1937, Francis was the son of the late Anthony and Ann (Pricenor) Goretski.

He was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1956, and was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed for Anesco of Kingston as a Salesman and Truck Driver until his retirement. Francis was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Plains.

Francis was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Goretski, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years the former Roseann Yugovsky, daughter Christine Check and her husband David, Forty Fort, son Francis Goretski, Jr. and his wife Megan, Ashley, granddaughter Amber Dalton and great-grandson Julian Toledano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA, 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery, Plains. Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the time of mass at 10:00 am at church.  Those attending the visitation and/or funeral mass, please go directly to church Wednesday morning.  A live stream of the funeral mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Church FACEBOOK page.
