Eva A. Canterini, 91 of Plains Township, passed away Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston, PA.

Born in the Hilldale section of Plains, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Anna M. (Volack) Pientka.

Eva attended Plains Memorial High School and was employed as a seamstress in the area garment factories. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, until its closure and merger with Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and the I.L.G.W.U.

Eva enjoyed relaxing and spending time with her family at Lake Wallenpaupack. When she wasn’t at the lake, she could be found with her mother and sister taking trips to the casinos and Burger King. She also loved scratching off lottery tickets, drinking a hot cup of coffee and telling stories about the good ol’ days.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Canterini on April 8, 2003, infant son Joseph, son Joseph J. Canterini on April 21, 2016, brothers Phillip and Daniel Pientka.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law Janice Canterini, Plains, granddaughter Tracey Canterini and her wife Kelly Novak, Hughestown, sister Marion Koneski, Plains, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. A Live Stream of the Funeral Mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK page. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains, Twp. Family and friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at church. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to Saint Bernadine Hall at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705.
