Eugene J. Cardoni, 85, formerly of Blakeslee and Yatesville, passed away Monday evening, October 16, 2017 at Kingston Manor Health Care Center, Kingston.

Born in the Hilldale section of Plains, Gene was the son of the late Eugene “Gino” and Charlotte (McDonald) Cardoni.

Gene was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and was Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed in construction, working out of carpenters Union Local 514.

Gene was a member of St. Joseph Marello Church, Pittston, The Itlo Club, Hilldale, former board member of Yatesville Boro Council and a former member of the Bocci League, Yatesville.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife the former Shirley Casterline on November 9, 2014, also, sisters, Betty Cardoni and Eileen Solovey.

Surviving are his sons Eugene and his wife Christina, Bowmanstown, Pa., Keith and his wife Jody, Blakeslee, and Kevin and his wife Theresa, Wapwallopen, 10 grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Joseph Marello Church, 237 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Interment will be held in The Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.

Family and friends may call Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
