Eleanor I. Hassel, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at ManorCare Health Center, Kingston.

Born in Wilkes-Barre she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Helen (McDade) Krommes and was educated in the area schools.

Eleanor was a member of Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish/ Saint Aloysius Church Wilkes-Barre. Eleanor was a homemaker all her life and the Matriarch of the family and was always there for her Sons and five Brothers.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her Husband Robert Hassel Sr., on December 16, 2006 and Brothers; William, Hugh, Charles, Raymond and Robert Krommes.

Surviving are Eleanor’s Sons, Robert Hassel and his wife Susan, Shickshinny, James Hassel and his Wife Lisa, Schnecksville, Pa. Grandchildren, Bethany Palmeter and her husband Kevin, Kathryn Harteis and husband Jared and Zachary Hassel; Jonathan, Lori and James Teliha, Great Grandchildren, Joshua Teliha and Nathan and Madelyn Palmeter, Nephews Charles and Gary Krommes.

Eleanor’s family extends a special thanks to all the staff of ManorCare and Heart Land Hospice for the excellent care of their Mother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 9:30 am in St. Aloysius Church 143 West Division Street, Wilkes-Barre with Father Richard Cirba, officiating. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover.

Family and friends may call Friday morning at church from 9am until time of Funeral Mass.

Memorial donations if desired may be made to Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish.
