Edward  F. Blazejewski Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Although he was born in Derby, Connecticut, he became a nearly-lifelong resident of the Wilkes-Barre area.  He was the oldest son of the late Edward and Josephine Blazejewski.  He was a member of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Plains.

After graduating Sacred Heart High School, Plains  in 1956, Ed served in the U.S. Navy as a Quarter Master Third Class aboard the USS English, in the Suez Canal.

Ed built his career as a skilled tradesman, and held several leadership positions in the Carpenters Union, Local 514.   As general foreman for over a decade, he oversaw of the nuclear reactor at Berwick Power Plant.

During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to many parts of the world.   He was also an active outdoorsman with a passion for fly-fishing.

He is survived by his wife Helen of 56 years, and his three sons.  Ed and his wife, Mary, their children Lori, Amy and Brett of Yardley, Pa.  Dave and his wife, Kim, and their children, Sara and Dan of Bear Creek.  Steve and his wife, Darlene, and their children, Kate and Emma, of North Attleboro, MA. And his two brothers Jim from Laflin and Don from Oregon City, OR.

He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.  The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. Deepak Singh and Dr. Sanjay Doddamani as well as the Hospital’s nursing staff for their professionalism and dedication.

Funeral will be held Monday at 11 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial t 11:30 am in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains.

Viewing will be held Sunday from 4 to 6 pm from the Corcoran Funeral Home.
Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the American Red Cross, 256 North Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18702
