Dorothy M. Pape, 92 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday morning, December 2, 2022 at Mountain Top Health Care Center.

Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Meyers) Marhalik.

Dorothy was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1948, and was employed as a phone operator for Bell Telephone and later at Sears Department Store.  A women of great faith, she was a member of Holy Saviour Church, East End section of Wilkes-Barre, and currently a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains.  She was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance and the Plains Senior Citizens Club.  A great love of Dorothy’s was spending time with her grandchildren and their trips to Ocean City, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dominick A. Pape on September 25, 2016, son David Pape, grandson Ryan Zawada, brothers Robert and Edward Marhalik, and sisters Irene Oberle, Loretta Stevens, and Helen Marhalik.

Surviving are her daughters Donna Patts and her husband Tom, Hudson, and Diane Zawada and her husband Joe, Laurys Station, PA, sons Dominick Pape and his wife Sheryl, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Douglas Pape, Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren Dan Pape, Joseph Zawada and his wife Emily, and Jenny Zawada, daughter-in-law Cindi Pape, Plains, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations may be made to the Plains Sports Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1625, Plains, PA  18705.
