I was so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing, he was a joy to be around on a stage, or off. We had many great conversations about audio and wine, two of his favorite subjects. Besides being a world class engineer, he was a great person and never let his resume get in the way of how he treated all musicians, even those who didn’t carry the same pedigree of the groups he was best known for working with. He would always have time to answer questions, or help work the kinks out of a lowly sideman’s monitor mix. I watched him quickly diagnose and solve issues on the fly several times, to the astonishment of all the techs on stage, none of whom had even begun to form an opinion as to what was wrong. He will be missed by all who worked with him, Doug DeHays

Dave was a wonderful human being and a highly skilled sound engineer. I met him when I worked at Digidesign in the mid-2000s, and was excited when someone of his caliber agreed to join our team. Our first big adventure together was spending a week in Toronto preparing the new Digidesign live digital console for use on the U2 Vertigo tour. As with all new technologies, there were some bumps in the road in the early days, and I got to see firsthand the easy-going determination and calmness under fire that are a hallmark of a real pro in our industry. And during the downtime, we whiled away the hours talking tech and sound art and many other topics - he was wonderful company. Deborah, I send my sincere condolences to you and Dave's extended family. He will always be remembered fondly.

It is a great shame that there are not enough Dave Skaff’s in this world. I was very lucky to have met , worked alongside and shared fine wine accompanying dinner ,with tremendous conversations on many occasions. A very large whole fish baked in sea salt (it took an hour) comes to mind ,sitting outdoors harbour side in Greece on a warm summers evening . Well we had worked hard !! Dave was very special I will miss not being able to share that elusive bottle of ‘Screaming Eagle’ we both always talked of. Love you Dave

It deeply pains me to know that I will be traveling and unable to pay my respects. Dave is one person who deserves them. I would like to offer Deborah, family and friends, my deepest sympathies. Dave was a wonderful man, and assuredly touched the lives of many...we are all better better people because of him, even if just merely experiencing his kindness. RIP Dave.
