Zalepa 74, of Plains Township, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2016, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in West Pittston, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Fenner) Zalepa. David was a graduate of West Pittston High School and attended Wilkes-College for Accounting and the University of Pittsburgh for Structural Engineering. David was a Floral Designer and owned David’s Floral in Pittston and Tunkhannock and won various awards for floral design. He toured promoting the Floral Industry under his stage name ”Daveon.” He retired as a Bridge inspector for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was also a substitute teacher for the Dioceses of Scranton. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains, a member of the Impala’s Band (1961) former member of Fox Hill Country Club and the Westmoreland Club and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Plymouth. David was on the Board of Directors of Clinics at Scranton Primary Health Care. Preceding him in death in addition to his Mother and Father are his brothers George, Edward and Leonard Zalepa. Surviving are his Wife of 31 years the former Barbara Golushka, Plains, Daughter Andrea Dobrowolski and her husband Kevin, Swoyersville; Sons Michael Zalepa and his wife Donna, Long Beach Island, N.J., and Jonathan Zalepa and his wife Rachel Wayne, Pa., grandchildren, Alex, Ann, John, Walter and Gabriel. Funeral will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road Plains, PA 18705. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations if desired may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E.
