David J. Somoga, 60 of Plains Township, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, September 12, 2018 after suffering a heart seizure at work.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late John and Mary Darlene (Carter) Somoga.

Dave was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1975, and was employed at Hilton Garden Inn, Wilkes-Barre, in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, was an avid photographer and was a member of the Photo Shoot at the Old School, Shenandoah, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John J. Somoga.

Surviving are his wife of 12 years, the former Mary Horn, Plains, brother Michael Somoga and his wife Linda, Dallas, sister Donna Tomkoski, Mountain Top, and her companion Wayde Kahley, nephews and nieces, John, Danielle, Billy, and Jenn, brother-in-law John Tomkoski, Sr., Wilkes-Barre, sister-in-law Maureen Somoga, Exeter, and father-in-law David Horn, Hazleton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, with Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705, with Father Michael Kerestes, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas. Family and friends may call Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Parastas services will be held 5:30 pm.
