David J. Shemanski, 91 of West Pittston, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 23, 2022 at Allied Services Meade Street Residence, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in West Wyoming on May 22, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Julia (Gamble) Shemanski.

David was a graduate of West Wyoming High School, Class of 1949, and was employed at Proctor and Gamble, working various jobs and retiring as service manager.

David was a lifelong outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing-sports he taught his children and grandchildren. Upon his retirement he spent time planning and taking many trips with Theresa, the love of his life, enjoying to also tell stories of their many adventures. When Theresa became ill, David became her caregiver. Well into his 70’s at this time, Theresa taught him how to cook and bake, activities he enjoyed for many years, especially in sharing his creations with his friends and family. He was also an avid gardener, expanding his garden every year and found much joy in sharing his harvest with others.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, the former Theresa Harowicz on August 13, 2010.

Surviving are his children Donna Vitale and her husband Wayne, Duryea, Mylene Krzanowski, Orefield, PA, and Mark Shemanski and his wife Susan, West Wyoming, grandchildren Justin Krzanowski and his wife Kirsten, Emily Shemanski and her Fiancé Christopher Cwenar, and Sarah Shemanski, great-grandsons Liam, Rhys, and Wyatt Krzanowski, sister Cynthia Cuba, Tunkhannock.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Services Hospice and Meade Street Residence for the wonderful care they provided to David and the support for the family.
