David A. Makaravage, 50 of Plains Township and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday evening, July 2, 2017, at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Frank Makaravage, Sr., of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Carol (Savage) Makaravage.

Dave was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre and was an Army Veteran. Dave was employed as an optical manager at Northeast Eye Specialists, Luzerne Optical Laboratories, and Balester Optical until his retirement. Dave was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Wilkes-Barre Council, 302.

Dave was a dedicated and loving father that any child could ever hope for. He was also a caring husband, son, and brother and will be greatly missed.

Surviving in addition to his father Frank, Sr., are his wife Elizabeth Spencer, daughters Elizabeth Makaravage, Plains, and Emily Makaravage, Larksville, step-son Derrick Spencer, Plains, sisters Donna Belusko, Hanover, and Tracy Makaravage, Baltimore, MD, and brother Frank Makaravage, Jr., Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral Services for Dave will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
