Clifford “Cliff” Jones, 62, of the Hudson section of Plains, passed away on Sunday morning, August, 16, 2020, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, after a courageous and strong fought battle with cancer.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Clifford L. Jones Sr. of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Marguerite “Peggy” (Evans) Jones.

He was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1976, and Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Class of 1980.

Cliff was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. He was a Social Studies teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for 35 years, where he also coached football, baseball, basketball and track & field. Most recently, Cliff was an athletic director in the WBA School District and the President of the Wyoming Valley Conference Athletic Executive Council. He has also held been the Secretary/Treasurer of the WVC Swimming Conference, a member of the WVC/LIAA Football Scheduling Steering Committee, a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association, and a member of the WVC/LIAA Power Ratings Steering Committee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Jones, 2019.

Surviving in addition to his father Clifford, Sr., are his wife of 39 years, the former Janice Jesikiewicz; daughters, Jennifer Yuhas and her husband, Robert, Jaclyn Jones, and grandson, Jordan Anthony Yuhas, all of Hudson; sister, Kathy Margavitch and her husband John, Stuart, FL, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, several aunts, uncles, nieces and one nephew.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Family and friends may call Thursday from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm at church. Due to the ongoing pandemic, restrictions have been put in place by the CDC and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Those attending the visitation and/or Funeral Mass, please follow the practice of social distancing and masks are required at the church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
