Charlotte C. Liparela, 91 of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, December 27, 2015 at The Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, PA.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Tarutis) Shimko, and was a lifelong resident of Miners Mills.

Charlotte was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1942, and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Miners Mills, until its merger with St. Benedict’s Parish, Parsons. Charlotte enjoyed reading and gardening and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Liparela on April 10, 1998, her sisters Ruth Fawver and Sally Horny.

Surviving are her children Alice Spangenberg and her husband Alan, Shavertown, Ann Wright, Springfield, VA, and Joseph Liparela and his wife Barbara, Dallas, grandchildren Douglas and Jeffrey Spangenberg, Mark, Steven, and Joseph Liparela, and Wiley and Jonathan Wright, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Margaret Smith, Toms River, NJ, and brother Robert Shimko, Port Charlotte, FLA, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Charlotte will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705. Entombment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Hanover Twp., PA. Friends and family may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service.
