Charles A. Jackson, Sr., 75 of West Wyoming, passed away Sunday morning, October 21, 2018 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, with his family by his side.

Born in Wyoming, he was the son of the late James and Bertha (Brady) Jackson.

Charlie was a graduate of Wyoming High School, Class of 1962 and was employed at Wyoming Area School District as a custodian and bus driver, Martz Trailways, Kraft Associates and last for St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming, where he was also a member.

Charlie, along with his wife Mary, were two of the founding members of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Jr. Warrior Football Organization, the Luzerne County Constable Association, was a Democratic Committee Member, the Luzerne County 5th District Democrats, and the PSEA Legislative Committee from 1993 – 2011. Charlie was also very active with Boy Scouts of America, Pack and Troop 366, where he served as Unit Commissioner, was a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of Boy Scouts of America, was Camp Commissioner of Camp Acahela, and was awarded the Boy Scouts of America District Distinguished Award of Merit in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, the former Mary C. Murphy on September 29, 2017, son-in-law Michael Rosengrant, brothers Matthew, James, Joseph, John, George, and Thomas Jackson, sisters Catherine Jackson, Genevieve “Jennie” Randazzo, Elizabeth “Peggy” Getz, and Rosemarie Homschek.

Surviving are his children Charlotte Kenzakoski, Wilkes-Barre, James Jackson and his wife Sandy, Pittston, Joanie Goulstone, West Wyoming, Ann Marie Rosengrant, and her fiancé Frank Hawk, West Wyoming, Linda Flanagan and her husband Michael, Harding, Christine Mathers and her husband Stephen, Trucksville, Trish Jackson, Plains, and Chas Jackson, Wyoming, grandchildren Ashley Peters, Alyssa Goulstone, Charlie, Mark, and Joey Kenzakoski, Erin and Kelley Flanagan, Nicholas and Matthew Mathers, Tyler Jackson, Amarah Scott, and Emily and Sarah Jackson, great-grandchildren Adyson and Austin Jones, and Ryan Peters, sister Martha Maurer, Moosic, many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. Monica’s Parish, 363 West 8th Street, West Wyoming, PA, with Father Peter A. Tomczak, Pastor, officiating. Those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to go directly to church Thursday morning. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
