Candace M. Kennedy, 61 of Laflin, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016 at her home after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jean (Evans) Burke.

Candy was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1972 and was employed in sales by various corporations during her career. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin.

She and her husband William celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on Tuesday April 26, 2016, the day of her passing.

In addition to her parents Charles and Mary Jean, she was preceded in death by her brother Charles Burke, and her mother and father-in-law William and Betty Kennedy.

Surviving in addition to her husband William, are her son William Kennedy and his wife Suzanne, Laflin, daughter Christine Piccotti and her husband David, Pittston, grandchildren Landen Kennedy and Nathan Piccotti, sisters Suzanne Horvath and her husband Michael, Wilkes-Barre and Amy Miller and her husband James, Fort Worth, Texas, sister-in law Candice Miscavage and her husband Mark, Wilkes-Barre, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass for Candy will be held Friday morning, April 29, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive Laflin, PA 18702, with Father James J. Walsh, Pastor, officiating. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the Church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Candace Kennedy Memorial Fund C/O Community Bank 108 N. Washington Avenue Scranton, PA 18503.
