Bruce D. Smith, 68 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday evening, June 19, 2022 at Allied Services Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, due to complications from the COVID-19 virus.

Born November 3, 1953, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Margaret (Sahoski) Smith.

Bruce graduated from Wilkes-Barre Area schools and worked for a short period of time.

Bruce was a special person who had many struggles throughout his life. Physically handicapped and blind from an early age, he struggled and was limited in his early adventures. Once he was lost in New Mexico for over 2 days, but came through unscathed. Nonetheless, Bruce wouldn’t let things hold him back and he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 100, Plains, where he would make his own adventures over the years and loved going camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Thomas E. Smith on November 30, 2015.

Surviving are his sister Joyce Fiorucci and her husband Donald, nieces and nephews, Tracy Smith and her husband Bill, Heather Joy, David Burke, Ashley and Evan Wosockolo, Allyson and Carl Gomez, great-niece Amanda Smith, and great-nephew William Smith.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
