Barbara J. Lastovica, 69 of Plains Township, passed away Sunday evening, January 1, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, with her family by her side.

Born in Kingston on February 21, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Alice L. (Davis) Reese.

Barbara was a graduate of Dallas High School, and Misericordia University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher at the Wilkes-Barre Y.M.C.A. and later as an administrative assistant at Wilkes University in the nursing department.

She and her husband, Joseph J. Lastovica, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her brother Ernest “Buddy” Reese.

Surviving in addition to her husband Joseph, are her children Jennifer M. Lastovica and her wife Anna Holmes, Manassas, VA, Joseph M. Lastovica and his wife Michelle, Manheim, PA, and Jonathan M. Lastovica, and his wife Elizabeth, Plains, grandchildren Ellie and Madeline Holmes-Lastovica, J.J. and Emma Lastovica, and Cora and Margot Lastovica, sister Alice Cole and her husband Edwin, Mountain Top, 3 other siblings, nieces and nephews.

Barbara’s family would like to recognize the excellent care received over the past few years at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, under the supervision of Doctor Norman G. Rosenblum, the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and other staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital for the efforts extended and thoughtful care provided to Barbara during the month of December 2022. We would also like the nurses at Allied Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, to know how much we appreciate the kind and compassionate care provided to Barbara and her family during her final days.

Funeral Services for Barbara will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Rev. Marty Garms, officiating. Interment will be held in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Plains. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
