Barbara Ann Yencha, 82 of Port Griffith, PA, passed away Sunday evening, February 5, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in the Port Griffith section of Pittston on January 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Helen C. (Osieski) Surma, Sr.

Barb was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School, Class of 1959 and Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was employed as a clerk and phone operator at Pittston Hospital and last as a waitress at the Triangle Restaurant, Pittston, until her retirement. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and enjoyed going Line Dancing.

Surviving are her son Jeff Yencha and his wife Tammy, Laflin, daughters Lori Songaila and her husband Tom, Harding, and Mandy Prebola, Wyoming. Grandchildren Bryce, Samantha, and Nicole Yencha, Ryan and Ashley Songaila and Eddie and Rylee Prebola, brother George “Buddy” Surma, Jr., Port Griffith.

In accordance with Barb’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
