Bacewicz, 76 of Plains, passed away January 29, 2021 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Ann was born September 13, 1944 in Hanover Township, daughter of the late Alexander and Laura (DeGuglielmo) Stempleski. Ann was a graduate of Hanover Memorial High School, Class of 1962. She was previously employed at First Eastern Bank and JC Penney’s. She was employed for the Social Security Administration for many years, until her retirement in 2019. She was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, North Wilkes-Barre, formerly known as St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. On June 20, 1964, Ann married Casimer “Mark” Bacewicz. Mark and Ann’s marriage was filled with love as they embarked through life’s adventures together. More recently, they spent time relaxing and enjoying each other’s company during their retirement. They could be found getting breakfast with friends or at D’s Diner before heading to the Mohegan Sun Casino. Ann was known as “Nana” to her grandchildren. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Nana. Ann and Mark’s home was the gathering spot for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Ann was notorious for being able to provide anything that was needed. Her grandchildren would say they were going shopping at Nana’s. You would always find Ann on the front porch waving as you leave their home. She was preceded in death by her son Mark S. Bacewicz on October 26, 2020. Ann is survived by her husband of 56 Years, Casimer “Mark” Bacewicz, Plains, daughter Christine Cholewa and her husband Leonard, Mountain Top, daughter-in-law Sharon Bacewicz, Dallas, granddaughter Jennifer Wren and her husband Mark, Clearwater, FL, granddaughter Alexandra Cholewa, Harrisburg, Grandson Nicholas Cholewa and his fiancée Melissa Armitage, Philadelphia, granddaughter Isabella Bacewicz, Dallas. She is also survived by her brother Daniel Stempleski and his wife Catherine, Wilkes-Barre, Several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Ann’s family would like to offer a sincere Thank You to the nurses and staff at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion given to Ann. Also a sincere Thank You to Beth Anne Hoffman for all the care she showed Ann. She is more than just a neighbor, she is family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Andre Bessette Church, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705, with Father Ken Seegar, Pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends and family are invited to a walk through visitation from 10:00 am until the time of Mass Wednesday morning at St. Andre Bessette Church. Those attending the visitation, we ask that you be brief when paying your respects, please follow the practice of social distancing, and masks are required at all times at the church.
