Obituaries » Angelo Salvatore September 24, 1923 - May 17, 2016 Angelo Salvatore, 92, of Plains, passed away Tuesday evening May 17, 2016 at the inpatient unit of VNA of Lackawanna County at Geisinger CMC, Scranton, with his loving family by his side. Born in the Keystone section of Plains Township, Angelo was the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Gross) Salvatore and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1941. Angelo was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He was discharged from active duty on May 17, 1946. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Angelo was employed for #1 Contracting Company until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid fisherman and a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees, and Notre Dame Football Team, but above all was a dedicated and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather who always cherished times spent with them. He was preceded in death by his Brothers, Paul Salvatore, Joseph Franchelli and Sister Anna Zalafi. Surviving are his Wife and love of his life for 68 years the former Dolores Bocci , Plains; Sons Angelo and his wife Helen, Plains, Ronald, West Pittston and Daughter Sharon Smith and her husband Christopher, Dillsburg, PA, grandchildren, Brandon and his Wife Lauren, Kyle and Jenna Smith; great-granddaughter Camryn Salvatore, Sister Jennie Stella, numerous nephews and nieces, and loving friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held Friday May 27, 2016 at 10:00 am in St, Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive Laflin, PA 18702. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the Church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. Angelo’s family will be receiving family and friends from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Church. Interment will be private.
