Alfred Spinicci current resident of Riverstreet Manor passed away February 11, 2017.

Born May 31, 1921, he resided in Kingston most of his life. He was the son of the late Anselmo and Laura (Bartoli) Spinicci. He and his brothers owned and operated Spinicci Garage and propane service in Swoyersville for many years, leading to his career in the propane industry.

He retired from Agway Petroleum where he presided as corporate manager of its propane division. He served as district director of NY State LP Gas Association, and was active in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey LPG association and recognized by the National LPG Association for his service. After his retirement he became a consultant for several area propane businesses.

He was a proud World War II Army veteran who served with the 112 Reg. Combat unit in the Pacific Theatre and was a recipient of The Good Conduct Medal, The Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Arrowhead. Al was often invited and proudly accepted to act as a speaker at various local high schools for Veteran’s Day celebrations.

He was a member of the Swoyersville American Legion, VFW Post 283, Kingston, served as president of the Italian Riunita Society and was a former member of the Big Band Society and Italian American Club. He had enjoyed attending the Kingston Senior Center on a daily basis.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, had served as a board member and was most recently the Greeter at Sunday Services, relinquishing his duties at age 93.

Alfie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend; a devoted family man who will be missed greatly by all those who loved and knew him.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alice Moore Spinicci in 2001 and by his beloved son Samuel who passed away in 2013. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Bruno and Anio, sister Emma Moses, stepmother Eletta Mucci, stepsisters Zel Mucci, Yolie Rosmus and Jean Rydzewski.

Surviving are daughter Carol Gaydos, Kingston and companion Jeff Popek; son Donald, St. Augustine, FL, daughter-in-law Sylvia Spinicci, Manchester, ME; grandchildren Craig Gaydos, Courtdale; Christopher Gaydos and Jason Gaydos, Kingston; Valeri and husband Todd Calkins, Dallas; Jeffery Spinicci, Dallas, Cara Spinicci, SC; Liam Spinicci, MA, Julie and husband Travis Jillson, NH; Devon Spinicci, ME, great grandchildren Jacob and Zachary Calkins, Audrey Sutton, Laina Spinicci and Christopher Jillson; also several beloved nieces and nephews.

“Be Happy” were always his parting words to us and we sincerely wish him the same.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Curch, Butler St. Kingston at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 17, 2017. Friends may call between 9 and 10 AM at the church. Interment will be held in Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming, at a date to be determined.
